Wer sind die Wide Boyz?
Pete Whittaker
Pete ist im englischen Peak District aufgewachsen und Klettern, insbesondere Riss- und Tradklettern, begleitet ihn schon sein Leben lang. Am Klettern fasziniert ihn die Herausforderung und das Projekt – egal wo das Projekt auf der Welt ist. Für ihn lässt sich Klettern in drei einfachen Worten zusammenfassen: Eine gute Herausforderung. Jede Klettertour bietet einen einzigartigen Test – von Stärke, Strategie und Geist.
Petes Liste an schweren Riss- und Tradrouten ist lang, darunter war auch der Century Crack (5.14b), die schwerste Riss-Kletterroute Amerikas. 2016 kletterte Pete die Route Freerider rope-solo innerhalb von einem Tag. Er war damit die erste Person, die El Capitan in unter 24 Stunden solo-freigeklettert hat.
Tom Randall
Tom ist ein begeisterter Trad- und Risskletterer und hat viele erste Begehungen auf der ganzen Welt geschafft. 2011 schloss er sich mit Pete zusammen, um den weltweit schwersten Offwidth-Riss, Century Crack in der USA, zu bezwingen, was im Film „WIDE BOYZ“ dokumentiert ist und ihnen damals ihren Durchbruch auch in der Medienwelt verschaffte.
Klettern begann Tom bereits in der Schuhe bei einem inoffiziellen Boulderwettbewerb und klettert seitdem ununterbrochen. Tom ist aber nicht nur vom Klettern am echten Fels fasziniert, sondern projektiert auch liebend gerne Risse im urbanen Raum – das können Brücken oder andere Gebäude sein. Manchmal bringt ihn das Buildering auch in so manche Schwierigkeiten, wie man zuletzt in seinem Video in Berlin sehen kann. 😀

Du willst nur am Finale zuschauen?
- Du kannst gerne auch so vorbeikommen und beim Finale zuschauen, oder im restlichen Hallenteil bouldern gehen. Beides kostet den normalen Hallentarif.

Wie funktioniert es mit den Zeitslots in der Quali?
- Beim Kauf Deines Tickets gibst Du an, in welchem Zeitslot der Qualifikationsrunde Du teilnehmen möchtest.
- Du kannst zwischen Runde 1 (09:00 bis 13:00 Uhr) und Runde 2 (14:00 bis 18:00 Uhr) wählen.
- Wichtig: Diese Zeitslot-Auswahl gilt nur für die 25 Qualifikationsboulder der Crack Fest Comp. Für alle anderen Boulder in der Halle, Challenges, Special Boulder, Partnerstände und weitere Programmpunkte brauchst Du keinen Zeitslot.
- Wenn Du zusätzlich einen Workshop oder eine Clinic buchen möchtest, achte bitte unbedingt darauf, dass dieser Termin nicht mit Deinem gewählten Qualifikations-Zeitslot kollidiert.

- Ja, das ist möglich. ABER:

Who are the Wide Boyz?
Pete Whittaker
Pete grew up in the English Peak District and climbing, especially crack and trad climbing, has accompanied him all his life. What fascinates him most about climbing is the challenge and the project, no matter where in the world that project is. For him, climbing can be summed up in three simple words: a good challenge. Every route offers a unique test of strength, strategy and mindset.
Pete’s list of hard crack and trad routes is long, including Century Crack (5.14b), the hardest crack climbing route in America. He became the first person to rope-solo free climb El Capitan in under 24 hours.
Tom Randall
Tom is a passionate trad and crack climber and has made many first ascents all over the world. In 2011, he teamed up with Pete to take on Century Crack in the USA, the world’s hardest offwidth crack at the time, which was documented in the film „WIDE BOYZ“ and gave them their breakthrough in the media world.
Tom started climbing in his early years at an unofficial bouldering competition and has not stopped since. But Tom is not only fascinated by climbing on real rock, he also loves projecting cracks in urban spaces, whether on bridges or other buildings. Sometimes this buildering gets him into trouble, as you can see in his recent video from Berlin. 😀

You only want to watch the final? Sure!
- You are very welcome to come by just to watch the final or go bouldering in the rest of the gym. Both are available at the regular gym rate.

How do the time slots in qualification work?
- When purchasing your ticket, you choose which qualification round for the 25 Crack Fest Comp boulders you want to take part in.
- You can choose between Round 1 (09:00 am to 01:00 pm) and Round 2 (02:00 pm to 06:00 pm).
- Important: This time slot selection applies only to the 25 qualification boulders of the Crack Fest Comp. For all other boulders in the gym, challenges, special boulders, partner stands and other programme points, you do not need a time slot.
- If you also want to attend a workshop or a clinic, please make sure that it does not overlap with your selected qualification time slot and prebook while booking your pass.

How do I book a workshop or clinic?
- When purchasing your Weekend Pass or Saturday Day Pass, you have the option to book workshops, clinics, brunch, overnight stay and other extras directly.
- As places are limited, the rule is: first come, first served.

Can I buy multiple tickets directly?
- Yes, that is possible.
- However, multiple tickets cannot be booked at the same time in one single step. Please go through the booking process separately for each ticket, add each ticket to the shopping cart one after another, and then complete the booking together at the end.

Can you also get food and drinks at your venue?
- Of course!
- When purchasing your ticket, you can optionally add a breakfast/brunch. For Crack Fest, we have prepared a fitting German-English combination.
- In addition, you can look forward to BBQ specials, a wide selection of snacks and warm dishes at our counter, as well as many regional and homemade options.
- And drinks are of course covered too: look forward to soft drinks, german beer and various coffee specialities.

When should I be there?
- Check-in is possible on Friday from 05:00 pm and on Saturday from 08:00 am.
- If possible, pick up your goodie bag including festival wristband already on Friday. That way everything will be quicker and easier on Saturday.
- Please also make sure to be at check-in at least 30 minutes before the start of your round.
